Planned power interruptions are required throughout the year to perform maintenance, upgrades and expansion to better meet the needs of our customers. Due to advances in system configurations, power interruptions are not always required, but we do regularly need to take customers off line to safely perform our work. Additionally, while the work that is being completed may not always be visible from your home, you may still be affected by the power interruption.
Automated Phone Notifications for Planned Power Interruptions
Historically, Alectra Utilities (formerly PowerStream) has hand delivered notices to residential customers in advance of planned power interruptions to allow customers time to prepare for these events. These notices informed customers when their power would be shut off to safely perform our work. The notices also displayed an alternate interruption date in the event that the work could not be performed on the scheduled date due to weather or other unplanned circumstances.
Alectra Utilities has now moved away from hand-delivered notices for our residential customers in order to reduce costs, and to support our commitment to environmental responsibility. As a result, we have transitioned to Automated Phone Notifications for these planned power interruptions. This allows us to be more responsive to customer issues and concerns regarding such power interruptions.
Hand-delivered power interruption notices (above) have been replaced with automated phone notifications.
