Low-Income Energy Assistance Program
Low-Income Energy Assistance Plan

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) was created to help individuals or families who are struggling to pay their electricity bills throughout the year.

The program provides a one-time financial assistance grant of up to a maximum of $500 per year. This grant is available to low-income or special circumstance residents who qualify and meet program criteria, and whose Alectra Utilities (formerly PowerStream) account is in arrears or is faced with the threat of disconnection.

LEAP is delivered within the Alectra Utilities service territory through assigned social service agencies. Alectra Utilities customers, who are in need of assistance or would like additional information, should call the United Way Simcoe Muskoka at 1-855-487-5327.
