Class Environmental Assessment

Markham Transformer Station #4

PowerStream has completed the Class Environmental Assessment for the proposed construction and operation of a new 230 - 28 kiloVolt (kV) transformer station (TS) in the Town of Markham to address the growing electricity demand in PowerStream's service area, particularly in the Town of Markham and Town of Richmond Hill.

The proposed site of the TS is north of highway 407, west of Rodick Road (see map). The station will consist of two transformers and associated equipment used to step down electricity supplied from the adjacent 230 kW transmission line to 28 kW so that it can be distributed to homes and businesses. The new facilities are expected to be in service in the fall of 2009.

In accordance with the Class EA for Minor Transmission Facilities, the draft Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be available for stakeholder review and comment for a 30-day period from Thursday, October 2, 2008 to Friday, October 31, 2008. Links to the draft ESR are below.

Written questions or comments on the draft ESR must be received not later that 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008. Please address your comments to one of the following contacts:
