The outdoor electrical safety display is located along a street in the village and includes a scaled down replica transformer station that "supplies" a three-phase circuit which feeds the two adjacent buildings; one with a pad-mount transformer to an underground service and the other with a pole-mount transformer to overhead service. Click here to visit the Community Safety Village of York Region website and learn more. The main safety messages demonstrated by the display, and included in the curriculum the children learn, are the dangers of climbing hydro towers, poles and fences.
The design, construction and sponsorship of the display were a cooperative effort among the York Region electrical utilities – PowerStream, Hydro One and Newmarket Hydro. |
