Electrical Safety

PowerStream strives to bring our customers the information they need to be electrically safe at home, work and play. On this website, along with up-to-date information about electrical safety around the house and on the job site, you'll also find seasonal safety topics and equipment information.

At PowerStream we encourage everyone to always think "safety first".

To report an electrical hazard or unsafe electrical condition please contact the 24-hour System Control Centre through our Power Outage Communication Service at 1-877-777-3810

Powerline Safety in Ontario

From 1998 to 2004, 46 electrocutions occurred in Ontario as a result of contact with powerlines. Powerline contact represents 75% of all outdoor fatalities, and 75% of occupational deaths involving powerline contact results from ladders contacting powerlines.

The Electrical Safety Authority and Local Distribution Companies such as PowerStream are working together to remind Ontarians of the potential hazards associated with overhead powerlines, and to re-educate them on the importance of following basic safety steps to keep themselves safe at Home, at Play, and at Work. For more information, please visit the Powerline Safety website www.powerlinesafety.info.
